2025 is Seek Lavender’s 10 year anniversary. We thought we would once again share our little story of how we became a USDA Value Added Producer, lavender, herb, & flower farm. These plants inspire certain folks. Those who recognize their magical gifts can’t always put into words why they are drawn to them. That is just how it was for us. We moved to 15528 Bradford Rd at the end of March 2003. Of course we were both actively pursuing careers (and Mary was also earning her Masters in Cyber Security) and mowing, mowing, mowing. It was a while before Mary’s internal urgings to do ‘something’ with their little piece of heaven surfaced. For years, maybe even 10, Mary soul searched, sometimes painfully. We felt fortunate to have this sweet oasis at the edge of Culpeper’s town limits. We wanted to share nature’s essence with those drawn to creating a nature inspired life, but in what form? We had a small vegetable garden and flowers/herbs growing but didn’t give them a thought until during the summer of 2015, the searching ended (thankfully). In the way that nature does, Mary heard ‘I am what you are going to do’. Mary practically ran to her computer and looked up lavender growing basics. Yes, it was feasible and the growing, learning, experimenting, and yes, failing, began.
It is still our heart’s desire to support folks in creating their nature inspired life. Pick-A-Posy starts with Iris!
